Host a Nurse Appreciation Event
Right here in Maine, nurses are facing record-high burnout. We are inviting Maine clubs, schools, and libraries to turn international research into local action. Host a "pop-up" appreciation station at your school or library between April 27 and May 6, then deliver the cards to your local nurses. It’s a simple way to educate your community about the global nursing crisis while providing tangible support to the nurses serving our Maine communities..
We’ve made it easy to advertise your event: Just download our Customizable Event Flyer, fill in the blanks with your specific date (between April 27 – May 6) and location, and post them around your school or library!
Step 1: Spread the Word
Step 2: Build Your Station
Set up a card-making table in a high-traffic area. Don’t forget to take pictures of folks hard at work.
The Supplies: All you need is paper and some markers, crayons, or colored pencils.
The Education: Print a few copies of our Info Sheet. This one-page guide connects the Global Nurse Shortage to specific challenges here in Maine. Having these at your station allows folks to learn about the topic while they craft.
Step 3: Deliver & Share
Gather your completed cards and deliver them to your local healthcare heroes in time for National Nurse’s Day (May 6th).
Where to go: Consider visiting local hospitals, nursing homes, or primary care offices—and don’t forget your school nurses!
Show the Impact: Take photos of your station and your delivery! Tag #UNAUSAMaine and #MeMUNC2026 on social media so we can highlight the impact you've made.
